Extension activities - YRC CLUB :

The Youth Red Cross Unit of Ethiraj College has coordinated and organised various activities for the year 2016-17 under the guidance of Programme Officer-Dr.Mrs.D.Leelavathi,PG&Research Department of Zoology, President-S.Preethi of III B.Sc Physics,Vice President-A.Rajalakshmi of II B.Com,Secretary-S.Veronika of III B.A.Economics.500 UG Students from the Aided Stream are members of this Club.

The events for the year began with a Human Chain Formation on August 3rdto intensify the importance of Breast Feeding.

On the same day,our YRCians attended a guest lecture and took an oath to kindle mothers to feed their child mandatory.

On August 5th,the students went on a rallyat Marina Beach from Kannagi Statue to Light House enhancing the importance of Breast Feeding.Our Principal,Dr.Mrs.A.Nirmala inaugurated the rally.

On account of 70th IndependenceDay Celebrations,our Volunteers joined hands with other Extension Clubs of our college for the Candle Light Run and Rally and walked around the college premises holding candles.

Our YRCians showcased their talents by participating in various competitions conducted by The Indian Red Cross Society in view of 67th Anniversary of Geneva Conventions.

The YRC Unit conducted a Orientation Programme on Sept,12 to tune the minds of young YRCians towards service. Dr.Kadhar Basha,Hony.Advisor of IRCS addressed the gathering.

On September 29th,our YRC Club along with The Blood Donors Club of Madras Medical College conducted a Blood Donation Campat our college premises.100 Volunteers donated blood.

Our Volunteers frequently visitthe Padhmam Blind Foundation Trustand assist the visually challenged students in their Academics.

Our YRCians attended the Disaster Management Worskshopconducted by The Madras University on Nov 8th.
