IQAC Activities

IQAC 2014-15

Ethiraj College for Women is quality - conscious in every sphere of its functioning. The IQAC develops quality benchmarks for academic and administrative activities of the institution. By giving constructive suggestions regarding the functioning of various units of the College, the IQAC strives hard to keep up the motto of the College “To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield under the guidance of the Principal and Vice-Principals.

Various Activities of the IQAC for the year 2014-15

Orientation Programme

The activities of the year began with the Conduct of Orientation programme for the first year UG students. The IQAC in collaboration with the Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology conducted the Orientation programme in the month of June . Feed Back regarding the Orientation Programme and also about the speakers, from the students were collected and analyzed by the IQAC.


The IQAC assisted the RUSA members of the College in preparing the Brief Vision Document and the Annual Plan for the College. This was submitted to TANSCHE on 16.6.2014

Feed back on Academic and Administrative activities of the College

To avoid the redundancy and repetition of work and to improve the overall functioning of the college, suggestions were collected from various departments of the college on Academics, Administration, Time Management, Conduct of Examination, College Office, Research, Student Activities, and Infrastructure.The feedback was consolidated and given to the Principal for review.

Feed back on Admission procedures

The IQAC collected feedback from the parents during UG admission for 2014-15 regarding the effectiveness of the Public Relation Team , Performance of the Non Teaching staff at registration desk and the overall admission process at the college. 80% of the parents highly appreciated the admission procedure of the college , effectiveness of the PR team and the performance of the non teaching staff . A few suggestions were given by the parents to improve the admission process.

Health Cards

The IQAC issued Health cards to the freshers and medical checkup was done by the College Doctor.

Concept level testing

The IQAC also conducted an online test for the First year UG students to assess their General knowledge, Aptitude and Conceptual knowledge in the respective subjects from 8.12 2014 to 18.12.14 for students from both the Aided and the Self supporting streams.


The IQAC consolidated the Academic and Extension activities of all the department in the college and submitted the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to the NAAC in the month of September .

Workshop for Non Teaching Staff

In order to emphasize the importance of healthy living the IQAC in association with the Department of Biochemistry conducted a one day workshop on “ Life style Associated Diseases” on 27th September. Radom sugar analysis and blood pressure measurement was done for the non teaching staff and the IQAC sponsored for the same.

Go green Campaign

As part of the Go Green Campaign to create environmental responsibility among the students the IQAC and Environmental Club of the college jointly organized competitions on Flower arrangement ,Forgotten millets- recipes,Slogan competition titled ” Green and clean campus”and Poster competition titled - Natural calamities, face it or prevent it” .The competitions were judged by the staff of the college and prizes were awarded to the winners.

Competitions for Alumini

The Ethiraj Alumini met on 26th Jan 2015. The IQAC conducted Singing Mehanthi and Rangoli competitions and distributed the prizes for the winners.

Workshop for Students

A one day workshop on SPSS package for UG and PG students of Business studies was conducted by the IQAC on 31st Jan 2015 with. Dr.Saradha , Assistant Professor ,Department of Economics, Ethiraj College for Women , as resource person...

Guest Lecture for Staff

In order to keep updated with the current technology the IQAC organized a guest lecture by Mr. Senthil Kumar, Director My Pad Academia on “Digitalization of conference Management “ for the faculty . on 20th February 2015.


As an attempt to capture, develop, share and effectively use organizational knowledge, the IQAC organised a one day seminar on“ Knowledge Management in Higher Educational Institutions”, on 30th March 2015 for the teaching staff of the college. Quality assurance is an ongoing effort towards excellence and the IQAC marches forward in its journey towards holistic academic excellence….
